Kolaghat Loke Siksha Niketan (KLSN) is a state level Non-Governmental nonprofit earning Voluntary Social Welfare Organisation, established by a group of dedicated Social activists on the auspicious Republic Day of India the 26th January, 1985 at Kolaghat on the bank of river the Rupnarayan in Southern part of West Bengal and registered on 24th February, 1989 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act XXVI, 1961.


Some devoted veteran social workers joined their hands, heads, hearts & minds with a few enthusiastic young persons with a noble mission of feeling urge to do some good o the poor and distressed people of Kolaghat, once a busy prosperous country business center on the bank of river Rupnarayan, now a dyeing rural harbor with a mixed community of cosmopolitan characters including the illiterate poor jobless fisherman, labors, rickshaw pullers, vegetable vendors, hawkers, tradesman as well as some educated and rich persons. The society consists of people of different castes and creed like Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists etc and the poor and backward community of Scheduled Castes, Tribes like Santals and other backward castes. It is the everyday struggle of most of the people for trying hand to mouth to earn a square meal. This community badly needs some devoted social workers.
